The information below notes some of the important dates, deadlines, and reminders for Exams Officers this month. Full Key Dates documents for various levels of qualification can be found within our Key Dates & Timetables page.

We communicate important information and updates relating to our specifications and processes by issuing circulars, which are available in the ‘Key Information’ area of Portal in the middle of each month. Exams Officers will receive an email notifying them of this, and should ensure relevant circulars are seen by appropriate members of centre staff.

JCQ also provide a monthly newsletter, which centres can access and subscribe to from their website.

September 2026

New Staff

Centres with new Exams Officers (or Heads of Centre) can find guidance on amending these and other details within our Centre Information page.

Guidance on creating Portal accounts for new members of staff can be found in the ‘Portal Quick Guides’ document on our Portal page.

Teachers delivering one of our qualifications for the first time can find specifications, resources, and contact details for subject experts on our subject pages, which can be found through the directory on our Qualifications page.

2026/2027 Entries

· Our Entry Fees and Entry Procedures and Coding documents are available this month on our Entries page. These documents will provide details relevant to all qualifications offered from September 2026 to August 2027.

· Entries for the November 2026 series can be made until 4^th October. Further information, such as the documentation mentioned above, can be found on our Entries page.

· Basedata files for the November 2026 (1^st September) and January 2027 (4^th September) series are published this month and can be downloaded from our Basedata page.

· Centres will be notified when preliminary entries for the June 2027 series can be made on Portal, by clicking on ‘Menu, followed by ‘Entries & Registrations’, and then ‘Make Preliminary Entries’. The deadline for submission of these is 10^th October.

June 2026 Series Deadlines

· The final deadline for Post-Results Services for the June 2026 examination series, including clerical checks and reviews of marking, is 24^th September. Full details of our Post-Results Services can be found within our Results. Grade Boundaries and PRS page.

· 24^th September is also the deadline for ‘retrospective’ applications for Special Consideration for the June 2026 series.

· The final deadline for the submission of late Cash-In codes for unitised qualifications is 20^th September.

Applications for the services above can be made by accessing the relevant areas of Portal.

November 2026 Series Deadlines

September contains the following deadlines for the November 2026 series:

· 20^th September is the deadline for applications for modified papers

· 4^th October is the deadline to apply for transferred candidate arrangements.

These requests can be made through the JCQ Centre Admin Portal (CAP), which can be accessed via Portal.

Access to Scripts January 2026 Series

Please note that the final date on which electronic copies of scripts can be accessed via Portal from the January 2026 series is 5^th September.

Skills Wales 2026/2027

The Skills Wales Administration Handbook 2026-27 as well as Principal Moderators’ Reports for Summer 2026 will be published this month on our Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales and National/Foundation Skills Challenge Certificate subject pages.

Qualifications Wales – Wales Exam Officer Conference Week

During the week beginning Monday 14^th September, Qualifications Wales will be running a range of online sessions, including contributions from WJEC, designed to support exams officers in Wales.
