New GCSE in Built Environment

New GCSE in Built Environment

We are pleased to announce that our GCSE in Built Environment is available to centres in Wales for teaching from autumn 2021.

This new qualification, approved by Qualifications Wales, introduces learners to, and develops their understanding of, the built environment.  Learners will study the trades and roles within the Built Environment, the tools, technologies and materials used in its construction and maintenance, and the processes involved in its design.

The approved specification and sample assessment materials are available to download from our website.

Discussing our new qualification, Allan Perry, Subject Officer for Construction commented:

"We developed this new qualification in consultation with sector leaders and industry experts to ensure that this provides the foundations to enable learners to consider different careers within the construction industry. In addition, the topics covered will allow centres with different facilities, resources and skills amongst their staff to deliver the qualification with confidence."

To support centres in introducing this new qualification we will be producing a raft of free digital resources and a series of Professional Learning courses.
