In today's digital age, revision aids extend a lot further than highlighters, homemade flashcards, and post-it notes. There's a huge variety of websites and apps available to help with each element of your exam preparation.

    • BBC Bitesize
      Bitesize is the BBC's free online study support resource for students. It offers syllabus-specific material over a wide range of subjects. You will find free step-by-step guides, videos, and quizzes by level and subject.

      Gojimo Revision is the UK's most popular revision app, and available to download for free on the Apple store. You can access more than 40,000 GCSE and A level questions, download quizzes for offline use, track your progress, and tick off each topic as you go along.

      Bubbl.us is a browser-based mind-mapping tool that is great for brainstorming purposes. It enables you to connect ideas by creating and developing colourful and engaging mind maps. If you're a visual learner, then an app like this would definitely be worthwhile. The website offers a free option or a premium option for £4.58 per month.

 

    • Cold Turkey
      Cold Turkey is an app which temporarily blocks-out social media, games, and any websites that act as a distraction. Ideal if your smartphone fuels your procrastination. The basic package is free and allows you to block unlimited websites. Available to download for Windows or macOS.

 

    • Quizlet
      Quizlet is a mobile and web-based application that allows you to study information via learning tools and games. It provides engaging and customisable activities, with 8 different study modes. You can create flashcards, time yourself, and test your memory. The basic account is free, which provides access to all study tools on the website, or you can upgrade to Quizlet Plus for £11.46 per year.
