Introducing sensitive topics to the classroom – Supporting teachers across Wales

Teaching and learning can require teachers and learners to engage with sensitive issues. To support practitioners delivering our Made-for-Wales qualifications, we have developed a new guidance document on delivering sensitive topics in the classroom. About the Personal Project

Personal Project qualifications empower learners to pursue meaningful, self-directed study grounded in the Curriculum for Wales.

They encourage engagement with a personal area of interest while developing and applying the Four Integral Skills:

  • creativity and innovation
  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • personal effectiveness
  • planning and organising

Undertaking these qualifications will nurture independence, resilience, and a strong sense of ownership over learning.

Who are these qualifications for?

Personal Project is designed for learners who want to explore a topic that matters to them – linked to personal interest, future aspiration, or to continue their learning within the Six Areas of Learning and Experience.

The Personal Project qualifications are inclusive to all learners working from Entry Level 1, through to Level 2.
