WJEC Entry Level / Level 1 Foundation Public Services
Public services play a vital role in Welsh society, ensuring health, safety, education, and community well-being. They form one of the largest employment sectors in Wales, offering opportunities across healthcare (NHS), emergency services, local government, education, and the armed forces.
The sector supports essential infrastructure, promotes social equity, and aligns with the Well-being of Future Generations Act. This qualification provides learners with valuable insight into a field where there is the chance to make a meaningful difference, whether through frontline roles or strategic leadership.
Who is this qualification for?
The WRFQ Public Services qualification is designed to promote positive vocational experiences for 14–16 learners in schools working at Entry Level to Level 1.
It offers a structured pathway to understanding the important role of public services in Welsh society and provides an excellent foundation to enable learners to progress to post-16 training or learning and, where appropriate, GCSEs or VCSEs.
