About the Work Related Foundation Qualification in Engineering

Engineering is important to the Welsh economy and supports industries such as manufacturing, transport, energy, and construction.

This qualification helps learners understand why engineering matters and introduces them to the wide range of sectors and roles within the industry.

It also supports learners to develop basic practical skills and shows how engineering contributes to sustainability and future growth in Wales.

Who is this qualification for?

The WRFQ Engineering qualification is designed to promote positive vocational experiences for 14–16 learners in schools and colleges.

It offers a structured pathway to understanding the job roles within the sector and develop some key practical engineering skills.

It provides an excellent foundation to enable learners to progress to post-16 training or learning and, where appropriate, GCSEs or VCSEs.
