Level 1/2 Constructing the Built Environment
The Level 1/2 Vocational Award in Constructing the Built Environment (9810) will be withdrawn in Summer 2028. The qualification will have its last full series in Summer 2028 with a resit opportunity for the external unit in January 2029 (subject to demand). The last cohort for centres running the qualification over two years will be September 2026.

Following the Department for Education’s recent announcement regarding the introduction of Vocational GCSEs in England, we would like to reassure centres that WJEC Eduqas Technical Awards will continue to be available until these new qualifications are introduced.
We remain committed to supporting centres and learners throughout this transition period and will continue to provide clear guidance and updates as further information becomes available. Centres can therefore continue to deliver and plan with confidence while future qualification arrangements are confirmed.

This innovative Level 1/2 qualification was developed in partnership with CITB and is primarily designed for learners aged 14-16 who want to learn about the construction industry from the build perspective.
It provides learners with a broad introduction to the different trades involved in the sector and the range of career opportunities available.
