WJEC awarded ‘Recognition to Deliver and Award National 14-16 Qualifications’

We are delighted to confirm, that following a comprehensive review and evaluation by Qualifications Wales, we have successfully met the criteria to deliver and award qualifications within the National 14-16 Suite.

Commenting on our achievement is Richard Harry, Executive Director: Qualifications and Assessment:

“With over 75 years in the development and delivery of both general and vocational qualifications, this recognition confirms WJEC’s position as the leading awarding body in Wales. 

Our teams are working at pace to develop the new suite of qualifications as part of the National 14-16 Qualifications offer, including VCSEs and the Skills Suite. These will provide learners across Wales with a breadth of learning opportunities, which will enable them to progress in whatever path they choose to follow. 
Our Qualification Development Team is continuing our tradition of co-construction, by engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, including learners, teachers and industry leaders in the development of these innovative qualifications. 

WJEC’s qualifications are well-respected, by schools, colleges and especially by learners, we are therefore confident that this new suite will make us the provider of choice. Our new, engaging and inspiring qualifications will enhance learners’ experience, by offering a range of exciting opportunities that will open career pathways.” 

National 14-16 Offer Qualifications 

The recognition awarded to us by Qualifications Wales authorises us to deliver and award the following qualifications: 

  • VCSEs
  • General and Work-Related Foundation qualifications
  • Skills Suite 
  • Personal Project 

These qualifications will be available to centres from September 2027.
