Proposed adaptations to GCSEs summer 2021 – teacher consultation

We are aware that school and college closures will have impacted learners who are halfway through their GCSE qualifications this summer, and we understand that the disruption to teaching and learning is challenging for those aiming to complete their qualifications in 2021.

Due to these unprecedented circumstances we have worked closely with Qualifications Wales to consider appropriate adaptations to our GCSE qualifications. With this in mind, we have engaged with focus groups of teachers from different parts of Wales to formulate proposals for adaptations to GCSEs for 2021. We now wish to consult more widely on the proposed adaptations.

We have developed a subject booklet outlining all our proposed adaptations, and the principles underpinning their design – you can access this document via our secure website. (Please contact your Exams Officer if you require access to the secure website).

Your opinion matters to us, and we encourage you and your teams to share your thoughts on our proposals via our survey. The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes and can be accessed here.  If you intend to respond to more than one subject proposal, you will need to complete the survey for each subject for which you are responding.

We are aiming to confirm details of the adaptations before the end of the summer term.

Therefore we would appreciate it if you could complete the survey by the 9th July.
