Ofqual's consultation for the awarding of GCSE, AS and A level qualifications

Ofqual's consultation for the awarding of GCSE, AS and A level qualifications

Following the Secretary of State for Education's decision to cancel the summer examinations to support the efforts to curtail the spread of coronavirus, and to provide students with calculated grades this summer, Ofqual has launched a consultation on their arrangements.

The consultation refers to the arrangements for awarding GCSE, AS and A levels, along with the Extended Project qualifications and Advanced Extension Award in maths, to ensure that students are not disadvantaged by these unprecedented circumstances.

The consultation opens 15 April 2020 and all responses must be submitted to Ofqual by 29 April 2020.

WJEC welcomes this consultation and will take into account views of a range of stakeholders in submitting its response to Ofqual.

Further information on the consultation is available on Ofqual's website.

For centres in Wales, Qualifications Wales will be launching their own consultation regarding the awarding of GCSE, AS, A levels and Skills Challenge Certificate qualifications on 28 April 2020.
