NEW A level Digital Technology – first teaching September 2022
We are pleased to announce that our new A level Digital Technology will be ready for first teaching from September 2022.
Providing an ideal progression route for learners taking GCSE Digital Technology, the qualification has been designed to advance learners' understanding of how Digital Technology influences the modern world by focussing on innovation and connectivity as well as developing practical abilities in advanced game programming and creating database driven websites.
With a modern and up-to-date specification, the structure of the assessment will see the use of onscreen exams, and 50% of marks will be for project work based on the creation of an advanced game, and the development of a database driven website.
Commenting on the new qualification, Andy Parker, Subject Officer, said: ‘This exciting new qualification has been developed in consultation with sector leaders and industry experts to ensure that they provide the foundations to enable learners to consider different careers within this growth industry. The topics covered will enable learners to have the theoretical background necessary to support a technical career as well as experience of development lifecycles and project management.
The specification and SAMs will be published on our website later this month, and teachers will have the opportunity to attend free ‘Preparing to Teach’ professional learning sessions in the new academic year.
