Getting to know your Wave 3 qualification – Introducing our ‘Quick Guides’
As we continue to lead the way in qualification reform — becoming the first awarding body to have several qualifications approved as part of Wave 3 of the National 14–16 qualifications by Qualifications Wales — our subject teams have developed individual qualification ‘Quick Guides’ to provide a clear and accessible overview of these exciting new qualifications.

Commenting on the launch of the guides, Sophie Dobbs, Regional Representative, said: “We are delighted that several of our Wave 3 qualifications have now been approved by Qualifications Wales and look forward to publishing the full specifications in September. We understand that centres are keen to learn more about these new qualifications. Our ‘Quick Guides’ provide the perfect introduction, outlining the key features of each qualification, including structure and assessment approaches.” |
‘Quick Guides’ are available for our Personal Project and Skills Suite, VCSEs, General Foundation Qualifications (GFQs), and Work Related Foundation Qualifications (WRFQs). To access your ‘Quick Guide’ visit the following webpage.
Individual guides to support you
Due to regulatory requirements, approved specifications cannot be published until September. In the meantime, our individual ‘Quick Guides’ outline:

- Qualification structure
- Target learner profile
- Assessment approach
These guides can be used alongside the draft specifications, which will be published shortly.
Please note that for qualifications not yet approved, the information included within the ‘Quick Guides’ remains subject to regulatory approval from Qualifications Wales.
