FREE Professional Learning to support Wave 3 Made-for-Wales qualifications confirmed

We are delighted to announce a comprehensive package of FREE professional learning (PL) opportunities to support the delivery of our new suite of Made-for-Wales qualifications, including VCSEs, Foundation Qualifications, the Skills Suite and Personal Project qualifications.

Designed in response to feedback from centres across Wales, these bilingual, online materials will be available on demand, allowing practitioners to access support at a time that works for them. Pre-recorded by trained subject experts, the materials will support qualifications due for first teaching from September 2027. There will also be opportunities for subject teachers to join termly, twilight, online Subject Fora meetings to put questions to our experts and network with other colleagues/centres.

Commenting on the launch, Nia Jones, Professional Learning Manager said:

“We are proud to continue offering a bespoke and comprehensive package of professional learning opportunities for teachers across Wales, helping them deliver our new qualifications with confidence.

Based on feedback from centres, we are introducing flexible, on-demand materials that practitioners can access at their own convenience. Each resource will be delivered by a subject expert and supported by a wide range of accompanying materials. In addition, our subject teams will continue to provide practical advice and guidance through our Subject Fora networks.”

Tailored support for every qualification

Pre-recorded PL material will be available across all VCSEs, Foundation Qualifications, Skills Suite and Personal Project qualifications, and at all levels. They will guide practitioners through the specification requirements, highlighting key content and providing suggestions for effective delivery in the classroom.

The first set of material will be published from the Summer Term and will be accessible through our secure Portal website.
