Coronavirus update: The awarding of vocational and technical qualifications, and other general qualifications in summer 2020

Yesterday, Ofqual issued further guidance for centres on the approach being taken for this summer's awarding of vocational qualifications.

The guidance document is available to view online and outlines Ofqual’s plans for the awarding of vocational and technical qualifications and general qualifications other than GCSEs, AS and A levels this summer. In addition, the guidance contains further information on what is expected from awarding bodies and what centres should expect to happen over the coming weeks.

Ofqual is finalising its policy on awarding these qualifications following a public consultation on the proposed approach, therefore the details are subject to change. Once these announcements have been made, we will be contacting our centres with further guidance.

WJEC welcomes this guidance and will continue to work closely with our regulators to ensure students are not disadvantaged and receive a fair grade following the cancellation of the summer examinations. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this difficult time.
