Changes to Candidate and Teacher Authentication Declarations
All JCQ Awarding Organisations are introducing updated Candidate and Assessor Authentication Declaration Forms across all qualifications with NEA units.
The updated forms must be used for all assessments completed on or after 1 September 2026. This is a regulatory requirement and failure to comply will result in a malpractice investigation. Centres are advised to destroy any previous versions of the authentication declaration form templates they have downloaded.

Catherine Webster, Assistant Director (General Qualification Delivery), Directorate of Qualifications and Assessment, said: "As AI continues to evolve, it is important that our requirements are clear. The updated candidate and assessor declaration forms include strengthened wording on the use of AI in NEA, ensuring that candidates, teachers and assessors are fully aware of their responsibilities and the requirements that must be met before starting an NEA, helping them approach the process with confidence and integrity." |
You can find out more about these changes in our circular to schools and colleges, available via Portal. The updated declaration forms are available on the relevant qualification pages.
