Awarding qualifications for summer 2021 in Wales
Today the Independent Review Panel, commissioned by The Minister for Education, Kirsty Williams has published its interim recommendations for the awarding of qualifications in summer 2021. In parallel, Qualifications Wales has also published its advice relating to the awarding of these qualifications. The Minister will now be considering the advice presented, alongside information from leaders across the education sector in Wales, and will be announcing her decision on 10 November.
We understand the unparalleled challenges facing the education sector today and recognise the considerable impact the current situation continues to have on learners due to complete qualifications next summer. We are committed to continuing our engagement and communication with our schools, colleges, teachers and learners, to ensure that the final method of awarding for the summer 2021 qualifications is deliverable and clearly understood, in accordance with the Minister’s final decision.
We look forward to working promptly and purposefully with Welsh Government, Qualifications Wales and other leaders and stakeholders across the education sector in Wales to implement a workable system, whilst recognising the challenges being faced by all.
