Amendments to our Made-for-Wales GCSEs

We have continued to listen carefully to the feedback we have received from schools and colleges about the challenges of implementing some of the new Made-for-Wales GCSE qualifications. We recognise the significant commitment required to deliver these reforms alongside the many other demands on school leaders and teachers, and we remain committed to supporting you through this period of change. 

Over recent months, we have worked closely with practitioners and stakeholders to identify practical steps we can take to reduce unnecessary administrative burden while maintaining the integrity and validity of our qualifications. 

As a result, we have made amendments to four Made-for-Wales GCSEs: 

• WJEC GCSE English Language and Literature (Single and Double Award) 
• WJEC GCSE Cymraeg Language and Literature (Single and Double Award) 
• WJEC GCSE Core Cymraeg 
• WJEC GCSE Religious Studies
