Applied ICT - GCE A/AS - AICT Assessments

AICT1

This unit is assessed by examination.  The three-hour examination consists of parts A and B.  Part A is one hour, is designed to be completed on screen and consists of a series of questions which are downloaded by centres in advance.  Part B is also completed on screen but is CD-based.  The examination is available in the summer series.

AICT2

This unit is assessed by coursework.  The HTML document for this assessment can be accessed on the WJEC secure website.  The unit is internally assessed and externally moderated. The deadline for submission of the sample is 15 May 2017.

AICT3

This unit is assessed by controlled assessment.  The assessments are externally set and marked.  The HTML document for this assessment can be accessed on the secure website and downloaded immediately prior to the window opening.  The window in which the assessments may be completed is:  6 March to 1 May 2017.

The controlled assessment is made up of a three-hour session which is followed by a twelve-hour session that may be organised as deemed appropriate by the centre.  The completion date may also be determined by the centre, taking into account a requirement for despatch to examiners by 4 May 2017.

AICT4

This unit is assessed by coursework.  The HTML document for this assessment can be accessed via the secure web and downloaded.  This unit is internally assessed and externally moderated.  The deadline for submission of the sample is 15 May 2017.

AICT5

This unit is assessed by controlled assessment.  An initial HTML document will be issued at the start of the academic year and this will provide a business scenario and the required preparatory tasks that are to be undertaken in groups.  There will be a subsequent HTML document released.  This document will provide 'revised requirements' that will need to be completed individually during the specified window.  There is a fifteen-hour time limit for the completion of all individual tasks. Candidates may take minutes of group meetings (that may include functional models developed by the groups and any relevant information generated through these meetings) into the controlled environment.  The window in which the assessment may be completed is:  6 March to 1 May 2017.

The fifteen hours allocated may be organised as deemed appropriate by the centre.  The completion date may also be determined by the centre taking into account a requirement for samples to be despatched to moderators by 15 May 2017.

AICT6

This unit is assessed by coursework.  The HTML document for this assessment can be accessed via the secure web and downloaded.  This unit is internally assessed and externally moderated.  The deadline for submission of the sample is 15 May 2017.

AICT7

This unit is assessed by examination.  The examination is of three hours' duration and consists of parts A and B.  Part A is designed to be completed on screen, is of one hour's duration and consists of a series of questions which are downloaded by centres in advance.  Part B is also completed on screen but is CD-based.  The examination is available in the summer series.

AICT8 and AICT9

These units are assessed as coursework and have no associated HTML assessment documents.  Details of their assessment requirements are given in the specification.  Samples of moderated work need to be submitted to the moderator by 15 May 2017.
