Information and Communication Technology GCSE
WJEC currently provides GCSE IT qualifications which meet the needs of teachers and the requirements of regulators in both England and Wales.
WJEC has a Short Course and a Single Award with the 2 units of the short course a subset of the 4 unit single award. Our specifications are assessed by a mixture of exams (40%) and controlled assignment (60%) to give a flexible, up to date qualification which will engage learners. Text books have been published by Hodder and Folens along with a Teachers' Guide to support delivery.
For schools in Wales, WJEC has identified an overlap in terms of skills between WJEC GCSE ICT and the Essential Skills Wales ICT qualifications. Candidates submitting the unit 2 Controlled Task will meet the requirements of both with a little extra documentation.
