GCSE Health and Social Care

This page contains information related to our GCSE Health and Social Care specification available in England and Wales.

Wales Centres Only

We are pleased to announce that, in Wales, the end date for our current single and double award GCSE and GCE AS/A level in Health and Social Care will be extended until 2020, with possible re-sit opportunities in 2021. This will mean that centres are able to continue entering candidates in September 2018 for two-year courses or in September 2017 for three-year courses.

All centres in Wales will need to start the new reformed suite of Health and Social Care qualifications, Levels 1-5, from September 2019. You can find out more about this on the Qualifications Wales website or email healthcarereview@qualificationswales.org

England Centres Only
In England the specification will be awarded for the last time in 2018. However, we are pleased to confirm that, following consultation, we have begun development of a new Level 1/2 Health and Social Care Vocational Award for centres in England for first teaching from 2017.
