Principal Examiners' Report
The Summer 2016 Principal Examiners' reports provide feedback on this Summer's examination series for the new and legacy qualifications. The reports include helpful observations and commentary on the work produced for this series and can assist teachers in preparing their students for the next examination series.
WJEC provides, and will continue to provide, qualifications in both England and Wales which meet the needs of teachers and the requirements of regulators in both countries.
For centres in Wales
WJEC is pleased to confirm that our GCE French qualification has been approved by Qualifications Wales for first teaching from September 2016. The sample assessment materials will be published shortly.

For centres in England
Through our Eduqas brand, WJEC is developing a reformed GCE French qualification, regulated by Ofqual, for first teaching from 2016. This qualification is designed to meet regulatory requirements in England. Specifications and resources can be found on the Eduqas GCE French webpage.

Modifications to FN/GN/SN1 oral and FN/GN/SN2 mark schemes
Acting upon the guidance provided by Ofqual, WJEC has made modifications to the mark schemes for Communication (AO1/AO2) for the FN/GN/SN1 oral assessments and Understanding / Quality of Response (AO2) for the FN/GN/SN2 written paper which will take effect from the summer 2015 examination series.

Centres conducting their own AS oral tests may open the topic cards 3 working days before the examination.

Unit 3 Structured Discussion
The examiner will offer the candidate a choice of 2 cards at random. The candidate, without studying the cards, will decide which title they wish to prepare.
