The Speaking, listening and communication tasks for levels 1&2 are available on the secure website.
Log in and then click on 'Resources PDF Downloads' and then 'Controlled Assessment Material'. The Functional Skills English Speaking, listening and communication tasks that are available for the November 2010 and May 2011 assessments can be found under 'Functional Skills - English'.
From September 2010, all centres in England will be able to enter candidates for Functional Skills English.
The Levels 1&2 assessments will take the form of two one-hour examinations assessing Reading and Writing. Speaking, Listening and Communication is internally assessed. Functional Skills English (Entry Level) is externally set and moderated, and internally assessed.
Further subject-specific training sessions will be held in the Autumn term, where there will be an opportunities to discuss sample assessment materials and meet Chief Examiners. Further details can be found on the CPD web page.

FS Access and Inclusion Regulations

Functional Skills Pilot
Transitional arrangements for functional skills English pilot qualification components from September 2010 until August 2011
Learners who have completed all three English components (Speaking, listening and communication; Reading; Writing) in the pilot qualifications have obtained a functional skills English qualification that will remain valid in the future.
Learners who have not completed any components during the pilot will need to take new accredited qualification components from September 2010.
Learners who have completed some, but not all, functional skills English components as part of the pilot will be able to combine these with new accredited components from September 2010 until August 2011 in order to complete their qualification. From September 2011, only newly accredited English components will be accepted to complete a qualification.
