New Specification:

Along with other non-core subjects GCSE Hospitality and Catering has been revised for courses starting in September 2009. The specification and specimen assessment materials may be downloaded by clicking the ‘View full list of documents’ link on the right hand side of this page. Particular features are the opportunity to study
either

•Single Award Catering
or
•Single Award Hospitality
or
•Double Award Hospitality and Catering
 

New specifications for GCSE teaching from September 2009 are now approved.


Existing Specification:


The WJEC GCSE Catering course introduced in 2003 will be examined for the last time in 2010.

The specification is designed to give candidates an opportunity to extend and apply their skills and knowledge of the catering industry within a variety of contexts. It will concentrate on the main areas of food production and food service as an introduction to the catering industry. The specification provides progression opportunities both directly into employment and to further learning opportunities within employment, or to further study.

There is a regular programme of INSET Professional Development every autumn delivered by senior examiners and teachers of the course. Past papers and marking schemes are available free of charge to teaching staff on our Secure Website.
