GCSE
GCSEs are being revised to meet new criteria.
Accredited specifications and assessment materials for revised GCSE subjects are now available to view (searchable by subject)
New GCSE timetable
New GCSEs are being produced to the following timetable:
- Non-core Subjects - for first teaching from September 2009
- Core subjects (English/English Literature, Mathematics, ICT and Welsh/Welsh Literature) - for first teaching from September 2010
- Science - for first teaching from September 2011
New specifications
The great majority of our specifications are provided in unitised form to allow for staged assessment and re-sit opportunities, but at the same time we have aimed to preserve the coherence of courses and ensure that assessment is manageable. The rules for the new GCSE specifications include details of terminal requirements, resits and cashing-in. Controlled assessment will replace coursework from September 2009 for all revised GCSE subjects with internal assessment. A downloadable Excel file giving a full summary of the revised GCSE specifications (for teaching from September 2009) is available.
Completely new specifications are available in Film Studies, Performing Arts and Psychology.
