Following two years of trials by the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA), the new Qualification & Credit Framework (QCF) has been approved.

It is a way for candidates to study credit-based units which suit their individual needs and maximising use of their talents in a subject area.

The new QCF sets out to create and accredit qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It aims to be accessible to a wide range of candidates within the vocational qualifications system.

Benefits of qualifications in the QCF

Units and qualifications in the QCF are beneficial to all of its users as they are:

  • transferable
  • flexible
  • quality assured
  • easy to understand
  • geared towards progression
