Format of AS Media Studies MS1 2014.

The format of the resource material for use in the Summer 2014 AS Media Studies MS1 (1291) examination on Friday 23 May (am) will be print-based.

Moving Image Awards

WJEC’s Moving Image Awards is a new and exciting competition designed to recognise the best moving image productions made by students aged 14-19 at schools and colleges offering WJEC qualifications.

Principal Examiners' Report Winter 2014

The Principal Examiners' report, providing feedback on the Winter 2014 series of examinations, is now available. Centres are advised to read the report carefully as it provides helpful observations and commentary on the work produced for this series and can assist teachers in preparing their students for the next series of examinations.

Moderator Reports

  • the moderator’s reports for AS and A2 units are also now available on the secure website (see Internal Assessment Mark Input area)
  • the moderator’s report indicates clearly if centre marks have been adjusted
  • there may be a slight difference of 1 to 2 marks between centre marks and UMS marks for all centres.

Continuing Professional Development

CPD for teachers and centres new to GCE Media Studies will be held on the 12 June 2014 in London.

Online Exam Review

The Online Exam Review provides a review of exam questions for MS1 and MS4.

Exemplar material for MS2 and MS3 internally assessed work, together with MS1 & MS4 examination scripts, is downloadable form the secure website [Resources PDF Download > GCE Media Studies - Exemplar Material]

Electronic versions of the material used in the Autum 2012 CPD's is also on the secure website [Resources PDF Download > CPD Materials]

Media, Film and Communications at University - Student Leaflet

The Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA), an HE association representing media, film and communication interests, has recently produced a leaflet which sets out the options for students wishing to continau studying Media, Film and Communications at University.
