Additional English Entry Pathways
|WJEC Additional English is a specification with a growing entry that is appropriate for Entry Level candidates. In light of this growing entry we would like to remind centres that WJEC provides, and will continue to provide, qualifications which meet the needs of teachers and the requirements of regulators in both England and Wales.|
WJEC is pleased to confirm that Additional English is now fully accredited
Additional English is designed to complement Functional Skills English (FS) in England and Essential Skills Wales (ESW) in Wales; although it is perfectly suitable to be taken as a stand-alone qualification. The mechanics of reading, writing, and speaking and listening are assessed through FS and ESW. The Entry Pathways qualification in Additional English is available at Entry 2 and Entry 3, and Level 1. There are a range of units that candidates can follow allowing centres to choose units to create a flexible course of their own that suits the needs of their learners.
The qualification is centre assessed and externally moderated. There is a choice of an 8 credit Award or a 13 credit Certificate at Entry 2 and Entry 3.
New Additional English Units
We are hoping to add additional units to the Additional English qualification in the near future and we would like to hear your views on what content you would like to see included.
