Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates in Latin Language, Latin Language & Roman Civilisation and Latin Literature

The WJEC Level 1 and 2 Certificates in Latin provide flexible and motivating courses which can be used as 'stepping stones' or as a complete alternative to GCSE. The Certificates are fully accredited and listed under Section 96 for funding and reporting in Performance Measures. Each certificate is graded A*-C at the relevant level and carries points consistent with GCSE. (e.g. Grade C in the Level 2 Latin Language Certificate carries 40 performance points).

  • Core Language unit plus Additional Language unit lead to Latin Language Certificate
  • Core Language unit plus Roman Civilisation unit lead to Latin Language and Roman Civilisation Certificate
  • Latin Literature is recognised through a separate two-unit Certificate
  • All units are available at both Level 1 and Level 2
  • Options for Controlled Assessment units in Roman Civilisation and Latin Literature

Specifications, specimen assessment materials prescribed texts and sources for the Certificates at both levels are available.
