Course content
A GCSE course in Design and Technology offers an opportunity for candidates to identify and solve real problems by designing and making products or systems in a wide range of contexts relating to their personal interests.
As a fundamental part of their course, candidates should design and make products.
Design and Technology develops candidates’ interdisciplinary skills, all six of the key skills, and their capacity for imaginative, innovative thinking, creativity and independence.
The WJEC GCSE Design and Technology is offered as a short course (untill 2010) or full course in the focus areas listed on the left hand side of this page.
New Specification Resources
Cynnal are developing free interactive resources that follow the new GCSE Specifications in Design and Technology. They are found by clicking this link to the NGFL Keystage 4 website page. A focus area will be added every six months, until all six are available. Resistant Materials is the first to be completed.
