Design & Technology Entry Level
WJEC Entry level is for students who may be under-achieving because of learning difficulties or disaffection. In particular, it is for those who have not reached National Curriculum Level 3 at the end of Key Stage 3 and for whom GCSE or GNVQ may be inappropriate, for a variety of reasons.
Features of the WJEC Entry Level qualification
The main features of WJEC’s Entry level qualifications are:
- largely internally assessed,
- stimulating and attractive resources,
- regular Professional Development courses,
- teachers actively involved as course producers and assessors.
Entry level is designed to emphasise the positive and raise pupils’ self-esteem. Most specifications are co-teachable with their GCSE equivalent. All are accredited by QCA/DELLS/CCEA.
WJEC offers two design qualifications at this level:
- Design Technology
- Graphical and Material Studies
This qualification will be discontinued in July 2012. To find out about replacement qualifications, please click here.
