- contribute substantially to discussions, using language that is suitable for the purpose and the audience
- respond to a wide range of reading materials, including some published material
- write in a wide range of forms for a variety of purposes, giving attention to purpose, audience and accuracy.
The marks are divided between internal and external assessment with coursework accounting for 40% of the total mark. The final assessment accounts for the remaining 60% of the total mark and is divided into three examinations, oracy - 30% comprising an oral exam (20%) and a listening comprehension exam (10%), and a written examination - 30%, assessing reading and writing skills.
The content of the course is based on six specific contexts:
- The Square Mile
