These pages are intended to provide help and guidance to examinations officers on issues and potential difficulties which can occur during each examination series.

The principal resource for exams officers for this period is the JCQ Booklet "Instructions for Conducting Examinations" and all exam officers should ensure that they are fully familiar with the procedures and rules set out in this document. Short summaries of some of the issues most commonly encountered can be obtained through the links on the left.

JCQ booklets entitled Instructions for Conducting Controlled Assessments and Instructions for Conducting Coursework are also available.

One of the issues most frequently encountered during the exam period will be candidates who may require "Special Consideration". This is a large and discrete area and has strong links with the provisions relating to Access Arrangements. Detailed information on both these areas can therefore be found elsewhere on this website.

The JCQ Centre Inspection Service retains the right to visit centres during examinations to inspect arrangements and ensure that centres are adhering to all regulations.

If any teachers at your centre wish to submit comments on any WJEC examination paper, they can do this by downloading a copy of the Centre Comments Form. The forms should be completed and returned by post to the address printed on the form. A consolidated summary of the comments submitted will then be presented to WJEC’s Examinations and Assessment Committee in the Autumn following the examination, and the points raised will be taken into account when future papers are compiled.
