English Baccalaureate

The Department for Education (DfE) has stipulated that five GCSEs at A* - C will count towards the new "English Bacc" performance indicator in England.
The subjects, or groups of subjects, are:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities – History or Geography
- Modern Foreign Languages (MFL): French, Spanish, German
MFL may also include Welsh First Language or Welsh Second Language

WJEC anticipates that many schools and colleges in England will continue to provide a broad range of subjects for their GCSE students, in addition to those proposed in the new performance indicator.
In addition to providing the full range of subjects needed to qualify for the "English Bacc" indicator, WJEC also offers courses in subjects designed to enrich students’ lives and their educational experience.
