WJEC to offer QCF qualifications in Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
5 July 2010
WJEC has this week achieved a new accredited status - as an awarding organisation that is able to offer QCF (Qualifications & Credit Framework) qualifications in Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
The QCF is a flexible framework within which awarding bodies can offer a wide range of qualifications. It recognises smaller steps of learning and enables learners to build qualifications unit by unit at a pace that suits their needs.
QCF qualifications are designed with local industries and employers to ensure that learners gain the relevant skills required for future employment.
WJEC already has several QCF units and qualifications under development, and from September will be able to formally offer the first of these to schools, colleges and work-based learning providers.
David Hopper, Internal verifier for Art and Design at Aberystwyth University said, “I am delighted that WJEC have been granted QCF recognition. The new Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design at both Level 3 and Level 4 will be available on this qualification framework. We can now go forward with the exciting and challenging opportunities offered through this Art and Design qualification.”
