Find qualifications and resources

9 June 2010

WJEC have created a series of free Key Stage 3 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) events for teachers in Wales. In order to support heads of science as they lead practitioners through the important new changes to science in Wales, the courses will help develop skills-based learning techniques and subject leader skills.

The three courses, which are being run in partnership with The National Science Learning Centre (NSLC)  will run in June and July.

• Supporting new and aspiring heads of science to lead practitioners
in delivering quality teaching and learning

• Sustainable Materials at KS3

• Contemporary Science as a Strategy Supporting KS2-3 Transition

WJEC is one of the partners in a Wales-wide initiative co-ordinated by Techniquest along with representatives from the Welsh Assembly Government, the All Wales Science Advisors Group, science teachers and the ASE (Association for Science Education), who have identified the need for CPD in Wales.

The courses, which will be directly related to the new curriculum in Wales will include bursaries to release teachers from schools and will be fully funded by the NSLC.
