WJEC is developing new vocational qualifications in Applied Science at level 1 and 2 for first teaching from September 2011. These qualifications will be based upon QCF units and will be available in Wales only.

Features of the new qualifications:

  • Build upon key stage 3
  • Enable regional/ local links
  • Flexible options
  • Link to 14-19 Learning Pathways
  • Unitised scheme
    • Certificate – 15 credits
    • Extended Certificate – 30 credits
    • Diploma – 60 credits
  • Units
    • GLH: 30 hours
    • 5 credits
    • Unit grading D, M, P

Invitation to attend consultation meetings

Teachers are invited to attend one of the consultation meetings we are holding, to help shape these exciting new qualifications.
