WJEC congratulates students on their GCSE and Welsh Baccalaureate results
Today WJEC awarded over 607,000 GCSE results to over 3,300 centres in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. WJEC has also provided over 14,000 Welsh Baccalaureate results to candidates in Wales.
The number of GCSEs taken across the UK reduced slightly, with stability seen in the UK results overall when compared with last year. Grade A* to A saw a 0.7% reduction and grades A* to C saw a decrease of 2.1% to 66.9%.
In Wales, there was 0.2% increase in candidates achieving A*-A. 66.6% of entries were awarded A*-C, showing stability in comparison with 2015.
93.8% of candidates achieved the Welsh Baccalaureate Intermediate Core Certificate, with 82.6% of candidates being awarded the Welsh Baccalaureate Intermediate Diploma.
92.5% candidates achieved the Welsh Baccalaureate Foundation Core Certificate with 90.3% of candidates achieving the Welsh Baccalaureate Foundation Diploma.
